A Consent to Operate must be renewed before it expires, and most SPCBs expect the application 60 to 120 days in advance with a full compliance record. We track your expiry dates, compile monitoring data and statutory returns, and file the renewal so your plant never operates on a lapsed consent.
Legal basis: Section 25/26 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974; Section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981; state consent management rules and auto-renewal schemes

How we get it done
- 1
Compliance gap audit
Day 1–7We review the current consent conditions against your records, flag missing monitoring, returns or unfiled Form V, and close the gaps before the Board sees them.
- 2
Data compilation
Day 8–14Monitoring data, production figures, hazardous waste records and investment certificate are compiled into the compliance report format your SPCB uses.
- 3
Renewal filing
Day 15–17The renewal application is filed online within the statutory window with the consent fee for the new validity period.
- 4
Query and inspection handling
Day 18–60We respond to any queries and coordinate the renewal inspection if the Board schedules one, keeping the file moving so the renewal is granted before expiry.
If you don’t comply
Operating after consent expiry is treated the same as operating without consent — the SPCB can issue closure directions and levy Environmental Compensation for each day of the gap, in addition to penalties of ₹10,000 up to ₹15 lakh under the amended Water and Air Acts. Late applications also lose the benefit of deemed or auto-renewal available in several states.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I apply for renewal?
Most states require the application 60 to 120 days before expiry, and some treat an application filed in time as a deemed consent until the Board decides. Filing late forfeits that protection, so we start the gap audit around six months before your expiry date.
What is auto-renewal of consent?
Several SPCBs allow Green and some Orange category units with a clean compliance record to renew by self-certification and fee payment, without a fresh inspection. Eligibility depends on category, past violations and timely filing of returns — we check whether you qualify and file through the fast-track route where available.
Our consent lapsed a few months ago. What now?
Apply immediately. Boards generally regularise the gap on payment of consent fees for the lapsed period plus any Environmental Compensation they assess, but continuing to operate without applying exposes you to closure. We prepare a frank compliance report and a request for condonation along with the renewal.
Do I need fresh lab monitoring for renewal?
Yes. Boards expect monitoring reports covering the consent period, usually at the frequency stated in your CTO conditions. If monitoring was irregular, we schedule a fresh round with a recognised lab so the renewal file shows current compliance.
